PD Systems Executes Successful Summer Intern Program

SPRINGFIELD, VA – PD Systems, a privately held Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business, announces the completion of a successful Summer Internship Program. Four interns were employed by PD Systems between June 1 and August 24, 2018. Each intern was given a specific project to complete, that was intended to further the company’s automation and compliance goals.

Michael Kuster, a Senior at Montclair University majoring in Business Administration, was tasked with establishing the framework for PD Systems’ Cyber Security Plan. Michael did an outstanding job positioning PD Systems to be compliant with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS) requirements within the agencies’ established timeframes. Michael also took the lead to research a solution to incorporate Multi-Factor Authentication into the PDS Network.

Jared Ponmakha, a Freshman at George Mason University majoring in Computer Science, designed and programmed workflows to streamline PD Systems’ accounts payable process. Jared’s work creates electronic approval paths and automation of manual tasks. Jared’s workflows will be rolled out for active use beginning September 2018.

Alyssa Krajewski, a rising Sophomore at East Carolina University majoring in Special Education with a minor in Business, was tasked with standing up our Human Resource Onboarding Application.
Working with the software vendor, Alyssa designed an online Onboarding portal that can be used to collect all onboarding paperwork for new hires, world-wide, in advance of their start date. The Onboarding portal will go live this month significantly streamlining our onboarding process, taking burden off operating divisions, increasing data accuracy, and eliminating wasteful paper processes.

Conor Legere, a rising Junior at Colgan Senior High School in Manassas, VA, was tasked with automating PD Systems’ company property inventory for its incorporation into Human Resource’s offboarding procedures. This automation allows all property to be accounted for before an employee leaves PD Systems’ employment streamlining the offboarding process. The incorporation of the automated company property into the offboarding process will occur beginning September 2018.

PD Systems would like to recognize and thank Michael, Jared, Alyssa and Conor for their outstanding contributions to advancing PD Systems’ compliance and business systems and processes. We wish them all the best in the coming school year and look forward to hearing of their future successes. They are all headed for bright futures!
